Inpatient Drug Rehab

Every time I think of what my sister went through when she was dealing with her substatnce dependency I get sick to my stomach. The way she looked was horrible all sunken in and skinny. Thank god we were able to find alcohol poisoning treatment for her before she killed herself. I never knew that substatnce dependency could take such a toll on a person and change them so much nor did I understand how alcohol poisoning treatment could restore a person back to their original self.

When is addiction treatment programs needed? Does an addict have to get addiction treatment programs in order be free of addiction or can it be done on ones own? My father has a addiction and I really want to find him a good addiction treatment programs center to attend. I don't think he can break loose from this on his own even though he says he can. How can I make sure he gets the help he needs?

Why is drug and alcohol addiction so hard to deal with? Why does the addict lose all respect for others? Why does the drug mean more to a person than anything else? These are all questions that family members and friends of addicts ask themselves everyday, WHY? Why has drug and alcohol addiction taken over his/her life? Drug and alcohol problems kept me from living a happy life until I found help through alcohol treatment program. My life was changed one night when I overdosed and woke up in the hospital. The doctor told me if I used again I would probably die because my heart couldn't take it any more. I was scared at that point that I might die because I knew I couldn't stop on my own so I told my parents that I had a drug and alcohol problems and that I needed help to go into alcohol treatment program. They were surprised that their little girl could even have done such a thing but, they helped me and paid for treatment. It's been 3 years since I went through treatment and I'm happier than ever!
